Output Description
IO 3’s a success factors for digital learning resources have been identified. In this phase, the DECriS consortium will apply the success factors to the existing OERs from the EINFOSE project (http://einfose.ffos.hr) in order to improve them and test how the success factors can be applied in practice.
There are four OERs in key areas of (Library and) Information Science. All of them have been translated into at least 3 European languages each and some even into 4 and 5 languages. The critical analysis of these OER and their modification/improvement will be done through 3 steps: firstly, the content of the OERs is checked and suggestions for new content and for changes of the structure are being collected by all partners; secondly,
after a decision process, a new content and new multimedia items are being developed; thirdly, the translations of the content are being updated and some new languages are being added, especially in relation to the addition of the improved content, fully accepted new didactic methodology, fully implemented advanced services offered by Moodle, new apps, etc.). The results of this phase could help other HEIs when they might approach the process of optimisation of OERs they produced. We also plan to design one more OER – Curation of analogical and digital material – which seems to be of particular interest to DE in the time of crisis as the content will cover all aspects of curation, including people, buildings, network security and material kept in (L)IS institutions and networks.
Target groups are all HEIs which have stated to use the EINFOSE OERs as part of their attempts to implement, adopt, support and manage these forms of digital teaching and learning. The newly developed success factors take a holistic perspective on the quality of OERs considering the perspectives of students, teachers/trainers and organisations. Their application to existing OER can show new paths to improve digital learning resources and could be seen as innovative outcome. A key challenge for the EHEA is to exploit the full potential of digital technologies for teaching and learning and effective DE in the time of crisis. There is still a demand for a better understanding how resources can be designed to be used more and adopted more quickly. IO 5 within DECriS the consortium will show how existing resources can be improved applying critical success factors for digital learning. The result will show in which areas improvement can be obtained. This IO can help to improve DE in time of crisis, better design of learning resources for supporting the EU goals towards digital education, the adoption of OERs more quickly, and as such it has impact on the rapid dissemination of knowledge in the EHEA, especially in the COVID-19 crisis.
As relates to the impact we can expect that the approach adopted to improve existing OERs can be applied to other OERs as well. That can improve many OERs that exist and such lead to a more intense use of these resources.
Tasks
From their team, three members will be included in the work. First, the SRCE team will do an initial analysis of the OERs. Two members from the Osijek team will be involved in creation of the new OER. Four partners are assigned as leaders for each of the four existing OERs. They are responsible for intensively commenting on these OERs and for collecting comments of other partners. The SRCE will oversee the decision process about which changes will be carried out. The four partners are then responsible for developing new versions of the OERs. All partners will then support the quality assurance process which will be initiated and monitored by the SRCE team. For the third phase - the translation process - the partners will be assigned versions of the OERs for additional translation. Also the Summer Schools students will be involved in this IO. They can design drafts of parts of the OERs as part of their thesis and class work which could be also regarded as an element of the participatory design.
